SlingShot Trend System / EMA Pullback SlingShot System

SSTS is a trend-following indicator based on a dual EMA pullback methodology, designed to keep traders aligned with the dominant market direction and identify high-probability continuation entries.

*Logic faithfully ported from the original SlingShot methodology by Chris Moody.
The core signal logic, trend definitions, and entry conditions are preserved without modification. Visual elements are adapted to the Indie rendering model while maintaining identical signal behavior.

Core Concept

The system uses two exponential moving averages (EMA 38 and EMA 62) to define trend direction and identify pullbacks within that trend. Trade signals are generated only when price action confirms continuation in the direction of the prevailing trend, helping filter out counter-trend noise.

Key Components

  • Dual EMA Trend Filter
EMA 38 and EMA 62 define bullish and bearish trend regimes.
  • Aggressive Pullback Zones
Highlights temporary price retracements toward the fast EMA within an active trend.
  • Conservative Entry Signals
Marks confirmed continuation entries when price crosses back above/below the fast EMA in the direction of the trend.
  • Trend State Markers
Continuous visual indication of bullish or bearish market regime.
  • Entry Markers (Arrows or B/S Labels)
Clear, unambiguous visualization of valid entry points, with mutual exclusion to avoid clutter.

Inputs and Controls

  • Aggressive pullback highlighting (on/off)
  • Conservative entry signals (on/off)
  • Trend state markers (on/off)
  • Choice between entry arrows or B / S labels
  • Full control over visual layers without affecting signal logic

Intended Audience

Designed for traders who value:

  • Proven trend-following methodologies
  • Clear, rule-based entry logic
  • Faithful reproductions of classic systems
  • Minimal discretion and visual noise
